1-Watch Documentary

2 - Write a 3-4 paragraph blog post answering these questions, (include pictures/screenshots).

•  In your own words, describe an image from the documentary or  “The People’s Portfolio”  that brought you close to your own emotions?

In Burma, the HIV/AIDS medication supply is so limited that only one in four people requiring treatment receives it. These children, who are HIV positive, were orphaned or sent by their parents to Social Action for Women’s safe house, the Children’s

As a soccer coach for young kids, I felt compelled to choose this image to reflect on, as the faces of children that I typically see are happy ones. Being a soccer coach, it is my job to ensure the safety, happiness, and imagination of the children I coach. That being said, seeing sad children who ban together, as shown in the image above, I was instantly drawn to the photo and alarmed. I wanted to learn more on this photo and understand what was going on to make these children look so unhappy. No child deserves to be unhappy, so this image was close to my own emotions as I work with children (age 2 to six) every week. For the soccer program that I coach, each child receives a stamp on their hand at the end of the day to show a job well done. In this photo, the children also receive a mark, though theirs are marks on their face for protection, not joy/congratulations.

•  Take a selfie, or have someone take a photo of you where you would visually express connection to world around you or to other human beings.

These three selfies above, are some of the groups of kids that I coach. I thought these images would be beneficial to include because of what I discussed in the previous question. This is my expression relating to the world around me, and to other humans around me, as I am working to teach these children valuable life lessons such as honestly, kindness, sharing, through the game of soccer. In the image from the People's Portfolio, the image I chose to reflect above relates as those children are not focused on having fun. The children I coach may not realized how blessed they are but I understand how privileged I am to get to teach them, as some of the  other children do not have teachers.

•  Post that image in your blog.
•  Describe / explain your image.
